It's been Stormaggedon here in the Philippines for the past... week? Weeks? and I have spent this one so far this way:
  • Monday | went on leave for fear of dying from flying roofs and falling tree trunks; then it turned out that the typhoon had already subsided in the Metro, and i beat myself up over having wasted my leave that way. Dad (who normally discourages going on a leave for reasons that are not near-paralytic illness) said not to fret about it, though, since it was raining like a fucking deadly thing on our side of the country so I was eventually able to enjoy my rest day in peace. Relatively.
  • Tuesday | took advantage of the fairly decent weather and finally submitted my scholarship application for grad school--at super speed over lunch. *FINGERS CROSSED* Went to dinner with Potthead friends to celebrate Harry P's 32nd birthday, had an encounter with an idiot cab driver on the way home, and ended up walking the whole kilometer to the train station instead. Instant exercise! Watched the latest episode of Teen Wolf, and flailed and cried inside.
  • Wednesday | Fucking. Overslept. Thanks, Stiles.
    Thursday morning - present time | Celebrating "Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa (Month of the National Language)" with friends by speaking purely in Filipino (including non-English-based slang) on Plurk and having a good, hearty, side-splitting laugh about it. We're giving [livejournal.com profile] aesires til sundown before she cracks from the challenge, and starts spouting English again and nothing but Filipino curses instead. (Most Filipinos have gotten so used to mixing the national language with English that it has become extremely difficult to keep speaking in pure Filipino while keeping a straight face.)

Tonight I'll be seeing Brave with a couple of said friends. Excite! :D Meridaaaaa. Can't wait to love youuuuu ♥

Speaking of Clint and Natasha's lovechild, I've been encountering a lot of wank over the upcoming (is it still apt to call it 'upcoming' if it's still about two years away?) Winter Soldier movie lately, a lot of it from people who are afraid that Bucky Barnes will bring in the "ruin" of the Clint/Natasha and Steve/Tony ships, and this just... bothers me. This post pretty much sums up what I feel about it and, as the OP writes about as well, the frustration of Black Widow fans over Natasha not getting her own movie before Bucky.

Basically, (1) I'm with the people in support of more female and POC leads in superhero movies, but I refuse to do this by shitting on characters that actually have a very interesting arc and especially whom I have grown to love; (2) I think ship wars are stupid and pointless, and I'm just going to my corner and enjoy my Avengers love in peace with people who are in the fandom for the love and fun as well, okay? Okay.

ANYWAY. More pleasant stuff: This Teen Wolf meta about the classical elements in the show, and how next season could just be the year of Stiles makes me miss being in lit class at uni; and this spoken word performance about the expectations and realities of love makes me miss performance lit class like endlessly burning. Why did I decide to do a business-related post-grad again? ;_;

Hey guys, heeeeyyy! ♥

Hey guys, heeeeyyy! ♥
ravyn_ashling: [almost famous] anita - one day, you'll be cool. (kazuya)
So I'm watching Kings in the guise of motivating myself while finishing my case study for tomorrow's class (this is evidently a poor excuse and an ill attempt because rewards and bribes do nothing for my productivity at all, and I probably won't finish this paper until 2AM), and I have to pause after every scene David and Jack have with each other, because I know how this show's been cancelled, know that there won't be a proper resolution, know that David and Jack's relationship will never be explored to its full potential--and this is where you hear me screaming, "NOOOOO MY KING DAVID x JONATHAN MODERN AU GIVE IT TO ME ALL MY HOPES AND DREAMS AND THINGS THAT I SECRETLY GIGGLED OVER DURING CHRISTIAN LIVING CLASS IN HIGH SCHOOL BUT NEVER SPOKE OF BECAUSE, WELL, CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL," (if I'd known this show was inspired by King David's story, I would have got to it sooner, I swear, but sometimes I fail like that so) arms flailing helplessly in the air and all.

Why do all the good shows get cancelled, Jennifer f-list? Why do shows like Glee continue to exist, while Sebastian Stan's beautiful angst god face gets pushed off a cliff along with the stellar writing and gorgeous cinematography that surrounds it, never to be heard from again? (No, what? No, I didn't mention Glee just because Sebastian Stan and Dianna Agron dated, what. I really do hate what that show has become.) Tell me, f-list,

I'm wondering how much of a difference it would have made if the Kings' marketing team decided to use the show's connection to the Biblical story to promote it. Shh, I'm a Communications-graduate-cum-Marketing-student, this is very relevant to my interests. I'm thinking a lot. Hands, meet air; welcome frustration my old friend.

Anyway! I marathoned Teen Wolf S1 over the weekend, and I really, really enjoyed it? Not feeling fannish about it just yet, and I still need more Derek/Stiles interaction for me to properly get giddy over them together, but I really, really adore Stiles (I don't think there's any surprise there, because everybody does, right?) and I love Allison, and I don't find Scott annoying like a lot of people seem to? Probably has to do with my liking his face a lot. In a... perfectly non-sexual way, thank fuck, because [livejournal.com profile] l_trickster_l pointed out that this is J-Lo's kid from Maid in Manhattan we're talking about, and--oh hey. He was born in 1991. That's... I've had a huge crush on someone born in 1991, that's not so ba--NO. B|

But yeah. Stiles. Arguably the best character in the show. Definitely joining that hypothetical fan club. Also, while I coo a lot at Scott's face and ridiculousness, I coo so much harder when Stiles is having moments with his daddy. I really love Stiles and his daddy. ;3;

Also, can I just say that I love that even though I'm practically committing fandom polygamy (maybe not polygamy per se, though, but more like polyamory? multifandom whoring?), I don't feel so bad about it because EVERYONE ELSE IS DOING THE SAME? I love you guys. I really, really do. Never let me take too long a break from LJ again, fuck the website restrictions at my workplace. Fuck my even more limited time and even busier schedule these days. Fuck--

I'm so fucking hungry right now. But then I am always hungry. You won't like me when I'm hungry. #HULKSMASH

I should... get back to my paper. ~~~~~/o/

OH LOOK MORE SEBASTIAN STAN ANGST GOD APPRECIATION! AND BUCKY/STEVE AKA WHY-I-HAVEN'T-COMPLETELY-FALLEN-DOWN-THE-TONY/STEVE-RABBIT-HOLE-YET (got this from [livejournal.com profile] copperiisulfate who obviously wants people curling in torturous pain with her, WHYYY WOMAN?! AND WHYYYY, BUCKY?! D'8)

I successfully submitted my draft for [livejournal.com profile] avengers_rbb btw, sooo that's exciting. Ish. Fingers crossed! XD

Still hungry.

And it only took me a little over two weeks to let you know that. Thanks to everyone who comforted me on my last entry btw! ♥ Grad school's been fun so far, though I still get the nerves and a heaving fit at least an hour before leaving from work to go to class, but it's cool, it's cool.

I'm doing pretty well and getting good grades (surprisingly really good grades o_o) on my case studies for Marketing class, but doing rather poorly in socializing with my Marketing classmates. (Seriously, though, how does one go about initiating contact and properly responding to small talk? I fucking hate small talk. Also, I swear my classmates must think I only speak when there are grades involved.)

Advanced Academic Writing class, on the other hand, well. It still frustrates me at moment that I hadn't been exempted from this class, especially since all the concepts being discussed so far (and most likely everything that will be discussed later) are concepts I'd learned about during my freshman year as an undergrad and even taught twice after I'd graduated from college, but I figured I could use the review and the practice, especially since I pretty much suck at keeping my focus during actual writing. (HELLO, EVIDENCE RIGHT HERE.)

Also, still need serious intervention on my procrastination tactics.

I'm still pretty much at the mercy of Avengers fandom, but I haven't been doing anything but reading Bucky/Steve fic and doodling Thor/Loki things when I'm bored at work lately. I have finished my line art for [livejournal.com profile] avengers_rbb and, uh, posted these two pieces:

Fandom: The Avengers, Brave
Pairing/Characters: Clint Barton/Natasha Romanoff, Princess Merida
Rating: G
Warnings: Crack?

{ I CAN'T BELIEVE IT! }

Fandom: Thor, The Avengers, X-Men: First Class
Pairing/Characters: Erik Lehnsherr/Charles Xavier, Thor/Loki
Rating: G
Warnings: So much crack. 8|

{ WHAT-- }
Are you sensing a pattern with my posts here? Shh, just ignore it.

Anyway, I'm on leave today because my dad just lost his job and is out with my mum renewing their broker's and CPA licenses, and I was asked to babysit my little brothers (one of whom is currently suffering from a really bad tummy), soooo I'll just be forcing myself to finish my goddamn case study for tomorrow (seriously, Gin, it's just definitions this time--fucking type the shit down already!) and hopefully I'll have time to doodle before the folks get home and Mum lords over my actions again. XD

PS. SUITS IS BACK HNGHHRHGHHH. One of my RL friends had been going all "TEAM PARALEGAL!" on Twitter yesterday, and I couldn't help myself, I had to raise the flag for Team Harvey, and he was all, "...well damn. Now that would be a twist." YEP. IF ONLY. But, eeee, Suits!
