Arrived at work to my team mates wearing purple yesterday. A conversation went something like this:

Them: Oy, Gin. Why are you in black?
Me: WHAT THE FUCK YOU GUYS I SAID TO WEAR PURPLE ON THE 20th IT'S ONLY THE 17th! D8<

Still. It was really sweet of them to care, I guess. Anyway, it did say on GLAAD's website to wear purple through October 20, not just on. *waves to [livejournal.com profile] ryogrande as well* XD

Have gone back to living with my grandparents again because I am a impoverished little bastard with no capacity to pay rent without killing myself from hunger (um, and I suppose the tendency to splurge on books and clothes has something to do with that, too--except it doesn't, because I can't even get myself a copy of the latest ASoIF book...s after GoT, l-lol. I AM A STARVING ARTIST (except I'm not really), HOW DOES MY KIND EVEN STILL EXIST. erm.)

Also, the commute from the condo we were renting was hella exhausting. One and half hours when traffic was being a bitch. Which was every fucking day, basically.

The only thing I hate about this new arrangement is that I don't get to live with [livejournal.com profile] dadomz anymore. No more crazed midnight sexcapades, boo.

Watched No. 6 following [livejournal.com profile] copperiisulfate's recommendation, and it was lovely. There were a couple things that left me scratching my head in confusion, but overall I enjoyed its wonderful mixture of shounen anime themes and, well, shounen ai.

It's something that I constantly long to see in most shows I follow, getting to watch the (gay/bi) subtext unfold into the actual "text" of the story (if you're friends with [livejournal.com profile] saramir, head on over to her very sound rant on the subject here), and includes spoilery things if you've only just begun reading Young Avengers, X-Men, Villains United, Manhunter, and watching Torchwood and Glee )

Which is why I'm inviting you all to participate in [livejournal.com profile] rachelmanija's Permanent Floating YA Diversity Book Clubs project. I know, I know I said popular shows, but this project deals with Young Adult novels, which I believe is a good enough venue to start as well.

People always treat LGBTQ themes in media as if they're vessels of the devil or someshit, I am widely aware of that. (The regulatory board in the Philippines still censors television scenes that show girls kissing other girls or boys kissing other boys on the cheek. I had to download episodes online back when I still liked Glee, even though they featured match airings here, because intimate scenes between Santana and Brittany would be cut out.) It was a bit surprising for me, though, to find out that the same is widespread in the literary world as well. Hopefully if more people talk about the importance of having good LGBTQ examples in books, especially young adult fiction, we can change that and give a better access for the youth (who, especially in these times, need it very much) so LGBTQ teens hopefully won't feel so alone and, along with everyone else, become more educated in the understanding of LGBTQ people.

Lol, rambly today. I'm not sorry. :P HERE, have [livejournal.com profile] hermette's Merlin Fandom Primer! :D My fellow Merlin aficionados, help us pimp out our shiny to the world (if you haven't already)! My JE homies, Inception buddies, HP fen and other non-Merlin-crazy friends: hop on over and be converted! 8DDDDb

Our novel Stranger has five viewpoint characters; one, Yuki Nakamura, is
gay and has a boyfriend. Yuki's romance, like the heterosexual ones in
the novel, involves nothing more explicit than kissing.

An agent from a major agency, one which represents a bestselling YA novel in the same genre as ours, called us.

The agent offered to sign us on the condition that we make the gay
character straight, or else remove his viewpoint and all references to
his sexual orientation.

This isn't about that specific agent; we'd gotten other rewrite requests before this one. Previous agents had also offered to take a second look if we did rewrites… including cutting the viewpoint of Yuki, the gay character.

It's time to stand up and demand change. Spread the word everywhere if you are just as angry and outraged by this.

The news kind of blew its gravity out of proportion (it was hardly trending topic worthy, but I suppose after the disaster Ondoy caused two years ago, it's understandable), but braving the streets while tropical storm Falcon (Meari) was on a rampage was still kind of fucking scary. My sister had been in the area when Marikina River started flooding in, and she couldn't help but run in a tiny fit of panic as she saw the water spreading into the highway while she was on her way to meet me at my work place (where it was thankfully flood-free). Storm's gone now, though, and the skies are clear again. Next up!

Rainbow bullet points are here for a reason, obviously. 'COS THERE'S A RAINBOW ALWAYS AFTER THE RAIIIIN ♪ 8D *kickedpunchedandgutted I've been following updates about the New York gay marriage legislation since news came out earlier this month, but kind of forgot that the vote was happening yesterday, until I went online and caught Neil Patrick Harris tweeting about its success (I'm like that with birthdays, too, actually. ;;) and then proceeded to bombard the world wide web with celebratory sparkles complete with unicorn mascots with the rest of my fellow happy people. I don't have any plans of living in New York and have never been interested in marriage for myself, but it's nice to know that there's one more place I can consider should I ever meet a girl I'd want to share those vows with. But right now I'll just sit here being happy for Neil and David Burtka and all the gorgeous couples so happily in love.

Or I could go to Baguio. *grabs a popcorn*

People are finally taking steps to properly document LGBT hate crimes in the Philippines. Reading about it is even more sickening when you think about how we, of course, had always had an idea about shit like this happening all over the country (we've been told stories about exactly what has been mentioned in the linked articles and corrective rape back in uni), but have never had something close to concrete reports out in the open--at least none that I know of--and that even with this not that many people seem to care, because most Filipinos still believe that discrimination against LGBT citizens is only a first world problem, and, "Filipino LGBT have got it easier here than in most other countries--even Japanese transsexual queens think so. You should be grateful already."

Well. Last I heard, human rights is a concern for everybody. And, no, not with all the killings happening, we do not.

Speaking of discrimination: I've always known about bisexual hate within the LGBT community, but I've never had direct experience with it until last week, when someone from my work place called me confused and actually inexistent. It felt really shitty being told that, especially from someone who's supposed to understand more what it's like to be different, but apparently I have no right to feel victimized by heteronormativity because I have hetero-privelege and there's more reason to feel sorry for me because of my being brain-addled and incapable of choosing one side? Ah, yeah. Because heterosexuals and homosexuals are actually at war with each other. And I've never had to control myself from showing too much affection towards my female friends because I've never had girls hesitate to hug me as much as they used to after learning about my attraction towards women. You'd think someone who waves a rainbow flag so proudly would be past seeing the world in only black-and-white. Seriously.

ANYWAY. This NSFW gif of Harry and Draco look-a-likes has been circling Tumblr since idek when (most of my friends and I only saw it last night), and today I found the video it came from. Je suis majorly disappoint that "Draco" tops in it, but wth. Keep it coming, boys, give me all you've got!

So. Summer for most people in my f-list = motherfucking shitty storms for us in this part of the world (and Canada, according to [livejournal.com profile] matchynishi). The only good thing about this is that I can wear cold weather clothes, which are like, my favourite fashion. Who's up for some sexy tiemz with a pretend school girl in knee-high lace-up leather boots today?

No? Why the fuck not. :(

Fine, go have some audiofic porn. You can add to the happiness by heading here! Also, some Merlin AU fluff:

Title: These blades of grass will do
Fandom: BBC Merlin
Pairing: Arthur/Merlin
Rating: G
Notes: Done as a submission by Team Yellow for the theme "high school au" at the Merlin/Arthur Party over at Tumblr.

{ while the world asks me for poems, with the two us, these blades of grass will do }
RL shittage and them some. )

Hello, shiny new people! There's only four of you I've collected from the last multi-fandom friending meme, but imo that's all for the best for now, because I kind of suck at this Livejournaling thing lately anyway! BUT HELLO, HELLO! My name is Ginny, and I got this nickname because I share my birth name with my grandma (she's Maria Regina and I'm Regine Marie), which is so not cool, and not because I like to pretend I'm married to Harry Potter. I don't even like Ginny Weasley. Welcome to my journal! :D

I was dropped on my head thrice as a baby, so I'm a little weird in the noggin' but I'm generally amiable and loving and try to keep the crazy to a minimum, especially around people who aren't my RL x fandom friends, [livejournal.com profile] tourdefierce, [livejournal.com profile] chaosmaka or [livejournal.com profile] uepixie. But if you want me for all of me, please feel free to tell me so! That would be super splendid. Like this! )

You can also find me on Tumblr (where you can easily tell how much of a multi-fandom slut I am), Twitter and Facebook. Just let me know who you are and I'll add you back at once. ♥

Anyway, lunch break finished about an hour ago, so--

(happy birthday, you gorgeous bastard.)

Daddy-o My boss and two of my three teammates are away in Cebu for the week, making our office very lonely and boring. I have got way too much extra time on my hands, and with the week's assignments and the favours I had been asked to do all over and done with... I am stumped.

Over the course of forty-eight hours in this idleness, however, several amazing things have happened:

Matty and Bobby broke the longest continuous kiss record. Now, this isn't just about HOMFG TWO GUYS KISSING FOR THIRTY-THREE HOURS KJDHKHKJAHKJA HOTTTT!!!1 for me (though ngl my little fangirly heart did flip a bit over it the first time it appeared on my Tumblr dashboard); these boys decided to take on this feat so they could raise the flag for equality and LGBT rights. They're not even together (Bobby has a boyfriend) or remotely attracted to each other--just a couple of college friends wanting to do something more useful than waste money on creating the world's most giant-ass skateboard. I don't know how successful they would be in making a real change, or if people won't take their intent the wrong way, but I love them for doing this nonetheless. And for playing Lady Gaga during the live stream. :))

Managed to allow Inception fandom to eat my brain. I DID IT FOR THE PORN OKAY. And because I may be slightly in love with Joseph Gordon-Levitt. (So I have a thing for slight and pretty actors called Joe, don't judge me.) Also, there's that thing where the movie is kind of spectacular, and has so much potential for fandom awesomesausage-ness and amazeball-ness. and stuff. AND HAVE I MENTIONED ALL THE FANTASTIC PORN??!!1 *A*

Once again, I am NOT slipping away from KAT-TUN fandom so stop looking at me like that! I'm still ending each bullet point in this post with a kaomoji, aren't I? In fact, I've been catching up on my fan fiction reading (I am now convinced that Twilight!Akame is the most glorious thing on the planet; you cannot persuade me otherwise T^Tb), and this thing of beauty to share with you. BEHOLD YOUR OVARIES EXPLODE.

These icons are addictive. :|

This Saturday, I will be attending a seminar on using digital tools for education hosted by my uni and the Asian University Digital Resource Network (AUDRN) because, for some reason, my old professors think all my flailing about gay wizards and Japanese pop stars--and doing so while writing in LOLCAT speak and abusing kaomoji--makes me a qualified delegate to the event. 8D Aaand, I guess there is the fact that I (used to be) an academic and am currently in charge of social media marketing for our company brand. is my sister's birthday. Which means I must give up superbly beneficial learning once more, and stay home. For without me helping out Mum with the preparations, she will not have a party. I am not that cold-hearted of a person. u_u;

Later today, [livejournal.com profile] chibiko_panda-tachi and I will be attending the GLEE party at Greenbelt. I would go as Mike Chang (so Hachi and I can be all couple-y and stuff, even though I could never be cool with Tina dating Mike *holds Artie ;~;*) but the only clothes I have with me are those I wear for work, plus two pairs of short shorts and a giant shirt for when I hang at the cafe at night (which I have yet to start doing), so now I have to make do with this LBD (a dress, you guys! I AM WEARING A DRESS. I ~like~ wearing a dress! D8) and maybe try to pull off a Quinn-Santana lovechild idek. Ngl, even though I don't enjoy Glee as much as I used to anymore, I am kind of excited. ♥

You know who I'm like? I'm like Dumbledore. Grew up with people telling me how talented/charming/smart I was, and thinking, "YEE-HAW I'M AWESOMESAUCE YO!" so when I ended up facing a near-menopausal mother and two little brothers who needed much taking care of right after graduation, I flipped. Mighty tried of course. Mighty tried goddamn hard to keep my cool and do my best but I crashed and had gone blaming them for my lack of a job, lack of opportunities for finding a decent one, and what I'd seen as a failed youth. Eh? Eh? :)) The only difference between young Albus and I is that I won't be growing a beard during my adulthood and I won't be living for 832479235 years.

Had is the operative word over there, of course. And above question should probably go "who I used to be". I still wish I could be doing the things I really, really want to do right now instead of this job (which I love but) that would not even pay the rent if I haven't been living with my folks atm, but I'd like to think I've matured in some sense over the course of six months, and have decided I'll keep working at achieving those things instead of just wishing, dreaming, whining about, pining after them. Not about to let the world throw a Grindelwald at me before I knock some sense into my head.

Ol' Dumby (bless his soul) and I remain alike in one thing, though: we're both incredibly, undeniably gay. 8Db ETA: Oh, oh! And I fall off stuff (beds, staircases~) a lot, too! *koffTUMBLYBOREkoffdamnyou[livejournal.com profile] hamster_friend*

Eh?

Speaking of gay, Daniel Radcliffe bashes homophobia. I think I can finally love him like Dumbledore loved Harry, u-huh unf! now. Also, pair that up with this and... mmhm, mmhm. >3 You know you're thinking it cos I totally am! XDD *shot*
