So I skipped work again today because we were advised last night that the heavy rains would continue the whole day and nearly half of Metro Manila was still flooded. My office mates had the same idea (my boss told me that only he and three other bosses went in today), as well as some friends who work for companies that did not announce suspension for the day.

At around 10 AM, however, the skies began to clear a bit and we could actually see a bit of sun finally. Rainfall warnings were also terminated an hour later. To add to the good vibes, I was suddenly invited to watch Smashing Pumpkins live tonight (first time they've ever decided to hold a concert here, and I had wanted to go so badly when they announced it months ago but sadly had to go on a tighter budget lately) FOR FREE, and, since the weather conditions seemed to be getting slightly better, I immediately said yes.

Unfortunately, come 3PM, it started raining like fuck again--seemingly so much harder than last night that PAGASA eventually had to raise the Red Warning Signal again. With that and with the road I usually take in going home from QC (when I'm driving or taking a cab) being impassable and suffering heavy traffic, I decided to cancel on my companion. A ticket wasted is better than a life wasted for whatever might happen if I'd take the risk, or something like that. Still a fucking downer, though, especially when Billy tweets stuff like this. :(

But yeah. Not as heartbreaking as what's happening everywhere else--not by a mile:

Spent the day online for updates, as well as helping out the people in this house pack relief goods and clothes to donate. Still doesn't feel like enough, though. Never feels like enough.

EDIT. AND YET. XDD

hi, hi.

what the sky looks like in Manila right now

Rains have stopped again, but it is very likely they will be back in a few minutes. Classes on all levels in the NCR have been cancelled again for tomorrow, and if work gets suspended again, I might head off to one of the relief operation sites to help out.

Here's a great list of ways to help out, whether you're in the Philippines or outside. All prayers and positive thoughts also welcome. :)

After a three-hour nap and dinner with my grandparents, I'm feeling less on the edge about everything that's been happening, so I think I can finally pop in the latest Teen Wolf and, uh, be on the edge about that for now.

ETA: KEPT ALTERNATING BETWEEN BEING TERRIFIED FOR EVERYBODY AND GIGGLING FROM THE ADORBS, HOLY MOTHER WITHOUT WITHOUT A SOUL, THAT WAS AWESOME.

At around 7:40 AM today, private companies began suspending work in their offices. Mine didn't. And a good number of my office mates still went despite of the heavy rains and flooding outside. I didn't.

Roughly three hours later, the Palace finally announced official suspension of work in private companies in the National Capital Region and other affected areas. FINALLY, the company I work for decided to listen, so no leave credits have been wasted on my part today. (I hear some other companies still refused to allow their employees go home, though. Not cool. ETA: Then again, I don't think it would be very safe to go home in this condition, so staying put at the office might be best for those who are already there.)

Aaaaaand then they bring in people who are stupid and heartless enough to blame the sufferings this weather has caused on the Reproductive Health Bill win. Wow. Just. WOW. Some people are just shit.

(Are there Teen Wolf download links available yet? I need something to distract me from wanting to punch these idiots in their crotches.)

Fifth day of the new year from the future, hello!

Pre-grad school woes here. )

I'm not sure how many of you have heard of Sendong (international name: Washi), the typhoon that took the lives of over 1,000 people and the homes of thousands more here in our country. The place where disaster hit is very far away from where I or any of my loved ones live, but watching and reading the news about it had been sickeningly devastating nonetheless, and still is.

To be honest--and I feel a little ashamed to say this now--I had not been expecting there to be any fandom relief efforts here on LJ for the victims of the typhoon, so it was a pleasant surprise when I found out that there are actually two ongoing at the moment:

[livejournal.com profile] help_pilipinas has offerings from writers and artists from the Johnny's Entertainment fandom. Offering posts are already closed for this auction, as they have started with bidding on January 1st and will be ending the round on the 16th. If you're a JE fan and would like to donate, and receive a fanwork featuring your favourite idol, pairing or group in return, then head on over to this community now.

[livejournal.com profile] help_mindanao caters to all fandoms and features offerings for even non-fandom items. Auction posts have been up since December 30 and will remain open until January 20. You can still offer fanworks and other items here. Read their FAQ here.
I was not able to make it to the offering of [livejournal.com profile] help_pilipinas, but you can find my thread in [livejournal.com profile] help_mindanao here, here, and here. I was not planning on offering anything for the auctions, since I usually take too long to finish my piece (I still owe [livejournal.com profile] rheasilvia and [livejournal.com profile] chaosmaka theirs), but because there has only been a small amount of offerings for this auction, I've decided to put up my own as well.

If you are willing to wait for your artwork to be turned over, you can bid on my art. But what I think would really help at this point is if we can get more offerings and promotion for the project.

Thanks in advance to anyone who helps in any way they can!

I had a blast participating in [livejournal.com profile] merlin_holidays again this year (though I still need to read all the fic D8)! Can you guess which work is mine? ;D

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to [livejournal.com profile] hungerpunch! ILU, LO. KEEP ROCKING. ♥

The news kind of blew its gravity out of proportion (it was hardly trending topic worthy, but I suppose after the disaster Ondoy caused two years ago, it's understandable), but braving the streets while tropical storm Falcon (Meari) was on a rampage was still kind of fucking scary. My sister had been in the area when Marikina River started flooding in, and she couldn't help but run in a tiny fit of panic as she saw the water spreading into the highway while she was on her way to meet me at my work place (where it was thankfully flood-free). Storm's gone now, though, and the skies are clear again. Next up!

Rainbow bullet points are here for a reason, obviously. 'COS THERE'S A RAINBOW ALWAYS AFTER THE RAIIIIN ♪ 8D *kickedpunchedandgutted I've been following updates about the New York gay marriage legislation since news came out earlier this month, but kind of forgot that the vote was happening yesterday, until I went online and caught Neil Patrick Harris tweeting about its success (I'm like that with birthdays, too, actually. ;;) and then proceeded to bombard the world wide web with celebratory sparkles complete with unicorn mascots with the rest of my fellow happy people. I don't have any plans of living in New York and have never been interested in marriage for myself, but it's nice to know that there's one more place I can consider should I ever meet a girl I'd want to share those vows with. But right now I'll just sit here being happy for Neil and David Burtka and all the gorgeous couples so happily in love.

Or I could go to Baguio. *grabs a popcorn*

People are finally taking steps to properly document LGBT hate crimes in the Philippines. Reading about it is even more sickening when you think about how we, of course, had always had an idea about shit like this happening all over the country (we've been told stories about exactly what has been mentioned in the linked articles and corrective rape back in uni), but have never had something close to concrete reports out in the open--at least none that I know of--and that even with this not that many people seem to care, because most Filipinos still believe that discrimination against LGBT citizens is only a first world problem, and, "Filipino LGBT have got it easier here than in most other countries--even Japanese transsexual queens think so. You should be grateful already."

Well. Last I heard, human rights is a concern for everybody. And, no, not with all the killings happening, we do not.

Speaking of discrimination: I've always known about bisexual hate within the LGBT community, but I've never had direct experience with it until last week, when someone from my work place called me confused and actually inexistent. It felt really shitty being told that, especially from someone who's supposed to understand more what it's like to be different, but apparently I have no right to feel victimized by heteronormativity because I have hetero-privelege and there's more reason to feel sorry for me because of my being brain-addled and incapable of choosing one side? Ah, yeah. Because heterosexuals and homosexuals are actually at war with each other. And I've never had to control myself from showing too much affection towards my female friends because I've never had girls hesitate to hug me as much as they used to after learning about my attraction towards women. You'd think someone who waves a rainbow flag so proudly would be past seeing the world in only black-and-white. Seriously.

ANYWAY. This NSFW gif of Harry and Draco look-a-likes has been circling Tumblr since idek when (most of my friends and I only saw it last night), and today I found the video it came from. Je suis majorly disappoint that "Draco" tops in it, but wth. Keep it coming, boys, give me all you've got!

Um. *A* It doesn't matter whether it's two men or two women or a BAMF good man and a pretty HBIC Scottish girl getting married... love is love is love is love forever, so! Happy Anniversary, Mr and Mrs Pond! ♥ ♥ ♥

And, finally, because it is not a Ginny post if nothing random comes up: There is hope for OPM yet. oAo

So. First post of the month, and ngl I have hardly been on LJ for the past couple weeks. Which means I truly, madly, deeply mean it now when I ask: ohaigaiz howzit what's up with you? :D

Here's what's been up with me~

- Finally submitted my [livejournal.com profile] hs_merlin art last night. Was a day late based on my timezone, which had been kind of a first for me since I'm usually speedy weedy but my pentablet died only last--November, okay, I'd still been in mourning. And I left my mouse in Laguna and there was no way I would be colouring my piece using a bloody touchpad.

- So I bought myself a new pentablet. A Wacom Bamboo, which is definitely progress from the basic Genius tablet [livejournal.com profile] aesires gave me for Christmas five years ago. (I will love thee for-ever, though, Teban and AJ. You have lived so much longer than what had been expected of you and served me well.)

- During my state of lament, though, however absent from fandom I seem to have been, I finally--FINALLY--managed to watch BBC's Sherlock, and. Oh. Ohhhh! My. God. Best. Thing. Ever. I love how, as [livejournal.com profile] wallyflower puts it, "this series is all about SHERLOCK" and doesn't bother with a crazed attempt to be a carbon copy of Holmes. He's still Sherlock Holmes, greatest detective of all time, and I cherish all the elements that clearly remind me of book!Holmes but I love every new twist to his character in this series as well. Also, while I am now a Cumberbitch in every single way, every single day, DOCTOR JOHN IN MY PANTS PRZKTHXBAI.

Don't think I'm getting into fandom, though. Can't even properly read fic, no matter how much I love Sherlock/John.

- Also watched the first episode of Starz Camelot, and, well. JCB certainly doesn't have Bradley's hair. Or Bradley's face. Not even the crookedness of his teeth can match the perfect imperfection of Bradley's. And it's going to take ages to get used to Joseph Fiennes being so--cray cray, yes--but way too seriousface Merlin. But it's certainly interesting and hella sexy AND OMG THAT FINAL SCENE. ;A; And Eva-Motherfucking-HBIC-Green, hot damn! I'll never have the same enthusiasm for this show as much I do BBC Merlin, but I'm game for watching it as it goes on anyway. At least I can still ship Arthur and Merlin.

- I'm not even going to start with how much RL work I have on my hands. It's cool, it's good, though; finally a regular and my boss assured me that he's got my back even when I decide to leave the company, the sweetheart. Probably in a year, sir, once I've managed to produce enough proof of my awesomeness.

- Lol finally, because idk I have to let it out like it's some bad gas in my big fat heart, I've given up on American Idol when Tyler Grady got cut right after his first performance on the big stage (I think I might be jinxing my Top 24 favourites all this time: Danny Noriega, Alex Wagner-Trugman even though I only like him because he's slashy with Cody Sheldon aka the guy he beat out during the final audition hurr, Tyler Grady and, just this week--and I've only really been watching just this week--Brett Loewenstern and Rachel Zevita) but I love that Steven Tyler is judging because we get to have people like that James Durbin kid around. (I love him, too, he's my official favourite even though I know my bias should be Thia Megia because, hey, Filipino Pride! I do support her, though, but James Durbin is too goddamn fucking adorable, okay? Shutting up now.)

- Speaking of Thia Megia, between her and Maria Aragon and Charice, I am a little amazed at the recognition Filipinos are getting internationally. Maybe I should hop in and see if I can still get that rock star dream. Lmao not a chance.

- HEEEY HOOOOO CAN I HAVE A KIM TAE HEE x HORIKITA MAKI x KUROKI MEISA DOUBLE DECKER SANDWICH YO, shh yeah so i'm really half lesbo. [/fails as a rapper too]

- Went and bit that paid account trial thing, but I'm a bit wary of using the extra icon space because it's only going to be temporary and I have issues with letting go. Give me a couple hours, though, I'll prolly succumb soon enough. I should really just get a paid account already. >___>;;;

Went to ETC & JackTV's special screening of Glee last night with Hachibebs and Trisha who dressed up as Tina and Artie (complete with spray dye, fantastic makeup and a wheelchair yo), and won ALL the prizes, those amazing bitches. ♥ It was seriously fun.

I could list down a lot of fantastic things I loved about the first ep, but they either wouldn't fit in this entry or end up as a great big wall of gurgling sounds. [Still, though: SPOILERS AND AN EMBARRASSING AMOUNT OF SENTENCE FAILURES INSIDE] )

I take back everything I said about not enjoying this show any more. I love it like fuck again. T^Tb

You guys have probably heard of the storm that hit our country yesterday. My family and I are lucky enough to be living in a place that is hardly ever affected by storms and flooding (we live pretty high up in Sta. Rosa, and the most we got of the damage were leaky kitchen roofs--nothing else) but so many others suffered immensely, my relatives included. This is one of the most devastating calamities that have struck the Philippines where people from even well-to-do and usually secure places were not spared of the horrible blow ([livejournal.com profile] hamster_friend, glad you and your family--and doggie--are all right!) Right now I'm torn between being thankful for not having been physically affected by the disaster and continuing to worry about friends and family who have.

For those who want to help, you can run a quick search online. [livejournal.com profile] the_raccoondog has a very useful post up. People in my area, they're accepting relief goods at St John Bosco Parish. I'm sure CDBS and DLSC will follow suit asap.

I get especially spaztic about films, okay. )

First Filipino movie I'd really anticipated and been more than willing to see, and it did not disappoint me. ♥

(Subs are a bit inaccurate, sorry. ^^)

Since I've already revealed that I have a jologs side anyway, here's proof to how much more jologs I am: I've been watching Katorse. For Enchong Dee. Because his conyo is liek, omg ttly adorb. LOLOLOL.

But that is not what I wanted to discuss. What I wanted to discuss is... ah, do all male post-Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition (I've never watched any PBB at all and do not really get the appeal) idols have to suck eggs at acting so much? And by these so-called idols I mean EJ Falcon and Gerald Anderson (and possibly that Matt Evans kid although he was KIND OF cute when his hair was still frizzy and doesn't suck that much in dramas? IDK I don't really watch any of his shows). Why they are so popular, I will never comprehend. They're butt-ugly too. :|

Speaking of butt-ugly, how is Jin's AnAn photoshoot? :)) I cannot bring myself to open my f-list and check it out just yet.
